Hong Kong Web Design Pricing 2026: What a Company Website Actually Costs

AI Freelance Hub Team8 min readOctober 16, 2026

Ask three Hong Kong web design companies for a quote and you will get three numbers that have nothing in common — a few thousand dollars, tens of thousands, sometimes six figures. The spread is real, and it is not because someone is cheating you: the word 'website' covers wildly different scopes. This guide lays out the ranges the Hong Kong market actually charges in 2026, the hidden costs most quotes leave out, and how to buy a site without the two classic disasters — paying twice, or paying for something that never goes live.

2026 market ranges, in HKD

Site typeTypical one-off build costWho it suits
One-page landing pageHK$3,000–15,000Single service, campaign, testing the water
Template-based company site (5–8 pages)HK$8,000–30,000Most service-business SMEs
Custom-designed company siteHK$30,000–80,000+Specific brand and feature requirements
Online store (payments + logistics)HK$35,000–150,000+Retail brands selling online directly

These ranges are compiled from price guides published by Hong Kong web design companies and platforms across 2025–2026 — market norms, not any single vendor's pricing. Your quote will move with page count, who writes the copy, photography, and integrations.

The hidden costs most quotes leave out

  • Domain renewal — a few hundred to ~HK$1,000 a year, every year.
  • Hosting and SSL — a few hundred to a few thousand a year; SSL is often bundled now, but confirm.
  • Revisions and new pages — adding a service page or swapping photos after launch is usually billed separately if not in the package.
  • SEO content — a website does not bring traffic by itself. Without keyword-targeted pages and ongoing content, the only visitors are people who already know you.
  • Tracking setup — Google Search Console, Analytics, WhatsApp click tracking. If nobody sets these up, you will never know whether the site brings enquiries.
The right question is not 'how much is a website' — it is 'what exactly is included, and what will I pay from year two'.

Why 'build first, SEO later' usually means zero enquiries

Plenty of SME sites get one or two years old without a single enquiry from Google. The three usual reasons: the pages do not target the words customers actually search (customers search '上水 會計 報稅'; the site says '專業會計服務'); service pages are too thin for Google to understand what is offered and where; and nothing is ever added after launch, so competitors who keep publishing pull ahead.

How to buy safely

  • Ask every bidder to state in writing whether the five hidden-cost items above are included — and what changes from year two.
  • Pay in milestones, never 100% upfront: deposit, design approval, launch. On a platform with escrow, the money is held by the platform and released per milestone you accept.
  • Get admin access, source files and credentials in the contract — otherwise the next vendor starts by reverse-engineering your own site.
  • If the budget is tight, start with one page done properly instead of eight pages done thinly.
